This is my 2nd year with West ISD. However, I come from a long line of Trojans - my sons, mother, and several family members are all West High School graduates. I was raised in northeast Fort Worth, but spent many summers with my West grandparents. When my husband's job transferred him to Waco in 1993, we were excited to join the West community and enjoy taking part in the community events.
I began my teaching career later in life and have been "paid" to teach for 9 years. I say "paid" as I volunteered as an Art teacher at St. Mary's School for 11 years when my sons attended there. I have attended MCC, Tarleton, and UTA. I received an Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from MCC, a Bachelor of Science in Education with emphasis in Math 4-8 from Tarleton, and a Masters of Science in Education/Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Mathematics Education for the University of Texas at Arlington. I am currently working on my Educational Doctorate in Higher Educational Leadership through Tarleton State University. In other words, I love school - teaching and attending! I hold TEA certifications in Mathematics 8-12, Mathematics 4-8, General Academics EC-6, Art K-12, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
When I am not in school or preparing for school, I cook/bake. I enjoy trying new recipes, honing old ones, and sharing what I have learned in my culinary journey with others. Last year, I started an after school Culinary Arts Club. In this club, students learn knife skills, food prep skills, sanitation, and teamwork. With the new school year starting, I am hoping to return to teaching viable skills and cooking methods to students at West High School. Club meeting times/days are to be determined.
Can't wait to see my students and start the 2020-2021 school year!
Feel free to contact me.
ClassLink: West ISD uses ClassLink as a single sign on solution for students. The URL for ClassLink is https://launchpad.classlink.com/westisd. If a student is unsure of how to access it, please have them contact me, and I’ll be glad to help!
Schoology: West ISD uses Schoology to help! as a learning management system (LMS) for classes at West Middle and West High School . Students will access it through ClassLink, so no separate login is needed. If a student is unsure of how to access Schoology, please have them contact me, and I’ll be glad to help!
Online Learners: If your student is working online this school year, I will have office hours through Google Meets from 3:20-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. The link is attached in their class through Schoology. I am here to help with answering questions, tutorials, etc during this online meeting.
