TRANSITION SERVICES

Transition services is an ongoing process that prepares students for post-secondary life. The process begins in elementary school with the learning of basic skills needed for independence. Transition is specifically addressed in the student's IEP when the student reaches the 8th grade or the age of 14, whichever comes first. The Texas Education Agency has posted the Texas Transition and Employment Guide on the Transition in Texas website. The purpose of this guide is to provide information about statewide services and programs that assist students with disabilities in the transition to life outside public school.  A link to the guide is provided below:
