Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Program

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Program

Welcome to the home page for West High School Project Lead the Way (PLTW) team.  At West High School, we offer course work in all three pathways: Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, and Engineering.

In Biomedical Sciences, our pathway begins with Principles of Biomedical Science, then Human Body Systems, and culminates with Medical Interventions.

In Computer Science, students begin with Computer Science Essentials and then take Computer Science Principles.

In Engineering, our pathway begins with Introduction to Engineering Design, then Civil Engineering and Architecture, and culminates with Aerospace Engineering.

Project Lead The Way uses an innovative approach of activity, problem and project based learning to excite students about STEM careers. This approach scaffolds student learning while achieving the desired outcome of confident, independent problem solvers. We have a fully equipped STEM lab that our PLTW classes can utilize, and classes are often seen working in the lab together.

We are excited about what is happening in our classrooms and look forward to our students being competitive in the collegiate and global environment.  It is truly a great time to be a Trojan!

The word "STEM" is creatively illustrated: "S" with DNA strands, "T" as a circuit board, "E" in blueprint style, "M" with hexagonal honeycomb shapes.
