College and Career Fair

On Tuesday, February 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., MCC is hosting a College and Career fair. Representatives from MCC will be there to answer questions, as will other representatives from the University Center.

SAT School Day at West High School

The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that is accepted at all U.S. colleges. SAT School Day at West High School will be on Tuesday, April 23 for juniors and seniors. With SAT School Day, the SAT is delivered in school, on a regular school day (Tuesday, April 23). Actual testing time will be 3 hours with administrative activities taking 50 minutes for a total test time of 3 hours and 50 minutes. The SAT offers a free test prep for students. Students can create personalized study plans with official SAT Practice on Khan Academy. Visit www.satpractice.org.

Students can register for the SAT School Day by seeing Ms. Scott at lunch this week, starting on Tuesday, February 12 through Friday, February 15. There will be a table set up in the cafeteria.

The cost of the SAT (no essay) will be $47.50 per student tested. Cash or checks will be accepted. Please make checks payable to West High School. SAT School Day offers a reduced fee, making the SAT test fee (no essay) for income-eligible students $8.00.

Curriculum Night: Feb 25 at 6:30

The HS/MS Curriculum Night will be held in the cafeteria on February 25. All the teachers will be showcasing their student's work and the Math and Science teachers will have hands-on activities for parents to participate in. Come and see what your student is learning in their classes.

UIL Competition News

Those students that signed up to compete in the UIL spelling competition this year need to stop by and see Mr. McDermott in room 1106 before or after school so they may finalize the team that will compete in the district meet next month.

Varsity and JV Cheerleader Tryouts

Go Trojans! If you are interested in trying out for JV or Varsity cheerleader, please sign up in the high school office and pick up an informational sheet. The parent meeting for cheer is February 4th at 6:00. A parent must attend for the candidate to be eligible to try out. Please see Mrs. Uptmore for any questions.
