• Who is eligible for the “Celebrating Texas Public Schools” Scholarship? Any graduating senior from a Friends of Texas Public Schools Network school district.
• Are there any limits on how many scholarship applications may be submitted by a school district? Yes. A school district may submit no more than 3 scholarship applications.
• Are there any other stipulations? Yes. A student must agree to attend the Friends of Texas Public Schools Gala held December 5, 2018 in Waco to personally receive the recognition. Friends of Texas Public Schools will pay reasonable travel accommodations.
• Are there any reporting requirements?  (how can the funds be used) Depending on the planned used of funds, Friends reserves the right to request certain documents to insure the funds are spent according to the plan.
• Are their restrictions on how the award can be used?  No. The purpose of this award is to assist winner(s) with starting their future after high school.
• What is the amount of the award? The award amount for 2018 is $2,500.00, there will be two awards. One for a student joining the workforce, continuing education through trade schools or other forms of post-secondary training and one for a college bound graduate.
• Are there any other requirements? Yes. The winners will be required to submit a picture which will be used in our program and other media.

The U.S. scholarship program covers all of the country and awards more than $100,000 every year. The Foundation’s U.S. scholarship program relies on approximately 450 volunteers around the country with support from the Foundation’s office staff.

 

U.S. applicants need not be Mensa members. However, Mensa members may apply for both these scholarship programs and the additional Mensa Member Award Program.

Aggregate annual income of the family household should not exceed $100,000. Must attend an accredited four-year college or university.

The Goss-Michael Foundation Scholarship 30-Mar Seniors pursuing a visual arts education at the college level. All scholarships are merit-based in the amount of $5,000, applied toward tuition at the student’s chosen college or university upon acceptance. In addition to the funding, the recipient of the visual arts scholarships will have one piece of art framed and displayed at The Goss-Michael Foundation and will be featured on the Foundation website and monthly newsletter. Consideration for each award is based on artistic and scholastic achievement, school and community participation, and leadership.

Must be a student who has been impacted by a life threatening illness (personally or an immediate family member).                                          
Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) West Local Unit Scholarship 4/3/2020 Students must have a GPA of 85 or higher, have applied to a 4-year university, Jr. College, and show a financial need. The student also needs to be exploring a career in education.  Students receiving scholarships that cover their full tuition will not be eligible for the West ATPE Local Scholarship.  In order to receive this scholarship students must enroll in courses no later than the fall semester following graduation.                                            
Texas Ag Industries Memorial Scholarship 4/5/2020 Deserving students in any major are eligible, as long as they are direct dependents of a TAIA member.  TAIA membership is by company, and employee of a member company is allowed all benefits of membership.                                          
Women in Public Finance Scholarship  4/5/2020 Must be a female, college-bound Texas resident high school senior enrolled in or planning to attend college Fall 2019. West Athletic Booster Club 4/12/2020 WHS Senior who has competed in or completed one sport during their Senior year. Qualifying sports are: cross country, volleyball, football, basketball, powerlifting, track, baseball, softball, golf, cheerleading. Points will be awarded for playing multiple sports for Senior year, junior, sophomore and freshman year.  Parent/Guardian must be a member of the WABC for all four years beginning with the Class of 2022 (2021 - 3 years, Class of 2020 - 2 years, Class of 2019 - 1 year).  Parent/Guardian must volunteer a minimum of 8 hours for WABC during Senior Year plus additional hours (see applications details).

West High School Business Department Scholarship 4/24/2020 College major must be in a business related field. Must have a high school GPA of 85 or better. Must have taken business classes at WHS. Must submit the essay requirement that is on the application.
