Trojan Choir

 

 

That's what we do here at Trojan Choir. 

We are always striving towards the standard of excellence and pushing ourselves past the bounds of what we thought we could do, while encouraging and leaning on one another to reach those goals. 

 

We are a new program, in our 3rd year already (I can't believe it!).

Our first year, we had a small group that worked hard to create a close bond, focusing on creating tight harmonies through our pop & musical theatre performances, which took us to Solo & Ensemble contest where we earned Superior ratings (1). Last year our numbers doubled, and we had 3 students make All-Region Choir, 2 advancing to the next level. All students participated in Solo & Ensemble, all receiving Superior (1) or Excellent (2) ratings, with 5 advancing to the State Solo & Ensemble Competition, where 3 received Superior (1) ratings.

 

With all of that said, truly the most exciting thing that happens is when a student joins our program, in faith, without any prior experience or knowledge, and is blown away by what they can achieve.

Many students walk in saying "I can't sing", I always respond, "Yes you can, you just haven't yet. Let's give it a chance."  Because I know they can do it if they will simply trust themselves & trust me.

 

Our room is a culture, a safe space, a place we have to rely on each other, and sometimes that's hard.

It is a team sport. 

I use sports analogies often, because athletics requires the same types of skills it takes to work together in a music ensemble. Perseverance, dedication, resilience, pulling your weight, and most of all... courage.

 

We have a lot of fun, we work really hard & I am their biggest cheerleader. I can't wait for this '24-25 year. I have some big ideas & I'm so excited to get started!!
