Thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of leading the staff and students at West High School! I intend to serve West ISD's stakeholders with humility, integrity, and a clear vision for the future of our graduates and the flagship campus of our district. I am excited to continue the many successful initiatives at West High School, and look forward to bringing new ideas and programs to the district as we move the campus towards new levels of excellence.
I have been happily married for 22 years, and my wife and I have been blessed with five daughters and three sons. We are active members of St. Louis Catholic Church, and currently reside a few miles away from it in Waco. I have been a school administrator for six years now, and I received my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on instructional design and technology, from Tarleton State University in 2019. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Rockhurst University, a Jesuit University in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2011. Prior to becoming an educator, I managed a local business in Waco and served as an infantry squad leader in the United States Marine Corps.
As an instructional leader, it is my belief that every child is capable of learning at high levels and deserves highly effective teachers and school leaders. As a high school principal, I always keep an eye towards our graduates "next step," and believe that any model high school can and should make every student a college, career, or military ready graduate. I am a teacher at heart, and have found that remaining in the classroom for almost a decade before moving to administration has both increased my credibility with teachers, and equipped me to provide them with highly effective professional coaching. At a district that is already great, I also believe that my previous administrative experience will help to bolster the services provided to our Emergent Bilingual and At-Risk students. I like to joke that I am also an Emergent Bilingual student, as I am conversationally fluent in Spanish, and have a passion for working with this demographic. As a child, I spent seven years in Costa Rica and Mexico City as my parents were missionaries for many years.
My vision for West High School is that it truly becomes the cornerstone of the fulfillment of the district's vision and mission. Each student is a unique human being that must be developed intellectually, creatively, socially, and physically in order for a foundation of lifelong learning to truly be laid. West ISD's stated vision, mission, core beliefs, and district goals are at the core of my own beliefs and educational philosophy.
Lastly, I want to assure you that I am going into this role with open eyes and ears. I understand that to effectively serve the staff, students, and community of West High School, I must understand their needs and priorities in the context of their own experiences. I have no doubt that in the 2026-2027 School Year, West High School will reach new levels of excellence. Go Trojans!
